Ryan Scott Ryan Scott (or Scott Ryan, we never know which) is our newest intern. His PHP isn't quite up to snuff, but we're hoping he's a quick learner. For now, he's working on WordPress installs and other various tasks around the office, while working on his CS degree and learning how to write object-oriented PHP.

Ridiculous CAPTCHA Is Ridiculous, Requires Character Map

So we've all seen our fair share of ridiculous CAPTCHAs. I've seen ones that require you to only enter the letters with the cats on them, or I've seen near undiscernable ones. And if you've ever listened to the audio CAPTCHA provided by Google, it's like the disembodied voice of Satan himself beckoning you to discern exactly which numbers need entering, if only you'll denounce your Lord. Spoken backwards. It's ridiculous.

Threadcakes Cake Competition

Inspired by the unique, community-driven design of Threadless' t-shirts, Loves Threadless decided to hold an independent contest. The premise was simple: bake and decorate a cake based on your favorite Threadless design. The cake contest quickly became extremely popular, receiving over 115 entries. The Threadcakes site was then featured on popular news aggregator Digg.com, driving over 40,000 unique visitors to the Cake Gallery in a single 24-hour period. The winners of the contest were also featured on a Fuse TV segment.
