Phase 4: Data Migration & Implementation

Phase 4 represents the completion and launch of the application. Data from the existing system is finally and fully migrated into the new system and, after verifying its accuracy, a complete switchover is made.

  • Obtain data sample of complete database for analysis
    • Create data transformation scripts to migrate data from old format to temporary structure
    • Create data migration scripts to migrate data from temporary structure to new system
    • Test migration of sample data, review for accuracy
  • Schedule transition date, off-peak hour preference
    • Lock old system from receiving additional data input or changes
    • Send complete data through transformation process
      • Review data in temporary structure for accuracy of transformation
    • Send data to new system through migration process
      • Review data in new system for accuracy of migration
    • Bring new system online, deactivate old system
  • Client interaction: review system for completeness of data migration
